Update on temporary track rebuild!

The track work to enable the Birmingham BMX Club to have somewhere to ride this summer was completed at the beginning of June 2009.  A massive thank you to all those that helped with the digging, raking and wacker plating!  An even bigger thank you to Steve Salt (Constituency Manager) for freeing up the funds to pay for the JCB.  We now have a 150 meter track to ride!  The jump sizes are: Jump one = 4m double 3ft high, Jump two = 5m double 5ft high, Berm one = 10 miles long!, Jump three = step up step down, 10foot on / ten foot off, or 19 foot triple or 28 foot quad!

Birmingham City Council parks department has accepted our proposal and work and work should start by the end of May. The plan is to finish the work with City Council contractors. So no volunteer dig days will be required! (Although track maintenance sessions will start at the same time as coaching and practice sessions).

Birmingham BMX Club is now officially registered with British Cycling. The Club is committed to working with Birmingham City Council and British Cycling to bring BMX racing back to Birmingham!

We are so committed we have submitted a proposal to the council to resurrect the old BMX track currently in Perry Park to be used as a two straight practice track. We are aiming to have the track usable to deliver gate practice and BMX coaching for the summer of 2009.  Official ‘dig days’ or track work volunteer days will be posted on the club events calendar if you want to help out building the jumps.
